One Morning
One Morning
I watch you from across the room
And wonder at my peacefulness
I with my morning coffee and paper
You with your quiet chores
As sunlight creeps through an open door
With the freshness only God’s nature can bring
You hum a simple, sweet tune and water the scarlett poinsettias
While I sit amazed at your beauty and gracefulness
Later, as you pass by
I will take your hand and you will come to me
My lips will touch your velvet neck
Your perfumed hair falling across my face
But for now I am content in my heart
To sit and watch your loveliness
And whisper to myself
I love you
